PORTLAND (AP) — Northern New England is starting the new week with some welcome news on the weather front: There are no major snow storms forecast for the coming week.

Chris Legrow of the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, says the region is getting a break from the active weather pattern. He said there’s a chance of snow showers midweek. Then it could be March before there’s significant snowfall.

It’s been a snowy and cold month.

The National Weather Service said that there’s never been more than a two-day break from measurable snowfall for the month in Portland, Maine.

February is also on track to be the coldest on record in Portland and second-coldest in Concord, New Hampshire, and Burlington, Vermont.
