PHIPPSBURG — The Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association will be holding its Winter Youth Field Day on Sunday. With the extreme winter New England has experienced, the PSA wants to help make use of it.

The field day is organized in a series of one-hour segments that give kids the opportunity to snowshoe and ski along wooded trails, while tracking deer, bobcat and fox in the snow, as well as having the chance to even drive a dogsled.

In addition to the outdoor sports activities, educational demonstrations will give kids the opportunity to meet a police department search dog, while even getting the chance to test out the dog’s skills. Outdoor winter safety is also on the agenda for Sunday.

The Winter Youth Field Day will be held at the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association’s Outdoor Education Center on Route 209 in Phippsburg. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided and there is no cost. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. More information on the event and the PSA can be found on its Facebook page.
