A Sanford man is in jail after being arrested by the York County Sheriff’s Office on allegations that he sexually molested a 13-year-old girl over a period of two years.
Sheriff William L. King Jr. identified the suspect in a news release Tuesday as Kyle Matthews, 23. Matthews was arrested Monday on gross sexual assault charges.

Detective Mathieu Nadeau said Matthews “inappropriately touched the young victim and forced the victim to sexually touch him” on several occasions in 2013 and 2014.
Investigators said the assaults took place in Cornish.
Matthews was being held Tuesday night at the York County Jail in Alfred. He is not eligible for bail and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Alfred on Wednesday.
