South Portland police are investigating a crash in which a man driving an old Toyota pickup truck went through a stop sign and crashed into four boats stored on trailers at Port Harbor Marine.

Christopher Baker, 21, of Old Orchard Beach was driving just before 2 a.m. Wednesday when he went through the intersection of Broadway and Benjamin W. Pickett Street and into the marina’s parking area, crashing into the boats and knocking one off its trailer, police said.

Baker was not discovered until 7:20 a.m. He was injured, though not so badly that his life was in danger, police said. He told police he could not find his cellphone to call for help and was injured too badly to seek help.

Fire officials said he had an open leg fracture. He climbed into the truck’s covered bed to stay warm, police said.

Police have not charged Baker, though they are looking into whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
