GORHAM — David Rubinstein collected three goals and one assist to help the University of New England to a 13-5 victory over the University of Southern Maine in a nonconference men’s lacrosse game at Hannaford Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Nor’easters (4-3) used five unanswered third-quarter goals to take a 10-4 lead.

Shamus Higginbottom and Sam Cloutier added two goals and an assist apiece for UNE.

Austin Watts scored twice for the Huskies (2-1).

ST. JOSEPH’S 13, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 7: Dalton Eldridge had three goals and one assist to lead the Monks (4-2, 2-0 GNAC) past the Falcons (0-5, 0-2) at New Haven, Connecticut.

Brad Loomis, Patrick Hills and Jake O’Brien each scored a pair of goals and Brendan Barrett had a goal and five assists for the Monks, who never trailed.

COLBY 14, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 10: Kevin Seiler scored two of his three goals in a 20-second-span late in the third quarter to put the Mules (4-2, 2-2 NESCAC) ahead for good against the Camels (1-6, 0-3) at Waterville.

John Grimaldi had a goal and three assists, and Derek Youngman had two goals and two assists for Colby.

MIDDLEBURY 13, BOWDOIN 7: The 17th-ranked Panthers (6-1, 3-1 NESCAC) got goals from 10 players and opened with a 6-0 run in cruising to a win over the Polar Bears (1-5, 1-3) at Middlebury, Vermont.

Peter Reuter scored a pair of goals for Bowdoin. David Nemirov and Brandon Lee added a goal and an assist apiece.

WILLIAMS 11, BATES 5: Jack Allard scored three goals to lead the Bobcats (3-3, 1-3 NESCAC) in a loss to the Ephs (6-0, 4-0) at Williamstown, Massachusetts.

ST. JOSEPH’S, ALBERTUS MAGNUS SPLIT: Theresa Hendrix hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the fourth inning and struck out eight batters while tossing a four-hitter to lift the Monks (8-2, 1-1) to a 2-1 win over the Falcons (5-7, 1-1) in the second game of a GNAC doubleheader at New Haven, Connecticut.

St. Joe’s lost the opener 5-2. Jordan had three hits in the loss and Mariah Harrison hit a two-run homer.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ST. JOSEPH’S 23, NORWICH 3: Elyse Caiazzo scored six goals and also had an assist, Lizzie Calnan added four goals and an assist, and the Monks (5-1, 2-0 GNAC) cruised past the Cadets (1-1, 1-1) at Northfield, Vermont.

COLBY 14, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 10: Abby Hatch had five goals and two assists, Sara Miller added four goals and one assist, and the Mules (6-1, 3-1 NESCAC) used a 6-1 run in the final 5:48 to rally past the Camels (2-5, 0-3) at New London, Connecticut.

MIDDLEBURY 14, BOWDOIN 8: Lindsay Picard, Clare McLaughlin and Mettler Growney each scored two goals for the third-ranked Polar Bears (6-1, 3-1 NESCAC), who were handed their first loss of the season by the eighth-ranked Panthers (4-1, 3-1) at Brunswick.

WILLIAMS 10, BATES 9: Bridget Malicki scored with 2:38 remaining in overtime to give the Ephs (3-2, 2-2 NESCAC) the edge on the Bobcats (5-4, 1-3) at Lewiston.

BASEBALL

HARTFORD 10, MAINE 5: Scott Heath hit a three-run homer in the first inning and added an RBI on a groundout later in the game for the Black Bears (8-14, 0-1 America East), but the Hawks (7-9, 3-1) rallied for a win at West Hartford, Connecticut.
