BRUNSWICK — Venise Lewis, age 92, of Hawthorne Street, died peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on Oct. 25, 1922, in Brunswick, the daughter of Charles Jr. and Eva Gamache Charron.

She attended St. John’s School and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1941. On June 1, 1946, she married Fred Lewis, who passed away on Jan. 1, 2003.

Venise was a homemaker, a payroll clerk at Varney Mill for 10 years, and a bookkeeper for 13 years at Maine Hardware, retiring in 1990.

Venise loved to bowl, knit, crochet, and paint and was an avid Boston sports fan. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. John the Baptist Church and 55 Plus. She was a devout Catholic.

She is predeceased by a son, David Lewis, who died in 2001, and two sisters, Gilberte Davis and Nancy Giard.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth of Cincinnati, OH, Jim of Fairfield, OH, and Stephen of Augusta, ME, three daughters, Kathleen Farrell of Wells, ME, Mary Jane Lemont of West Bath, ME, and Nancy Bennoch of West Bath, ME, 11 grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her oldest and dearest friend, Leo Messier.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Pleasant Street, Brunswick. Burial at St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick, will be in the spring.
