Most granolas are gluten-free, but Wildflours Gluten-Free Bakery in Brunswick happens to make a particularly tasty one, in addition to all of the other gluten-free baked goods on its menu.
The bakery does not have a retail shop; its products are sold at local farmers markets, stores and cafes. I purchased a bag of its original granola at the Portland Food-Co-op for $6.99.
Large chunks of the granola were dotted with raisins, adding a touch of sweetness. It was crunchy enough to be satisfying as a good little snack to get you through the midday munchies. I used my granola as a breakfast cereal, adding some plain, locally made yogurt and dousing it with milk. It was a nice way to start my weekend – delicious and filling.
Wildflours also makes cookies, cakes, doughnuts, pies, quiches, breads, muffins and lots of other items you’d find at any bakery. They sell at Barrels Community Market in Waterville, Morning Glory Natural Foods in Brunswick and Cafe Creme in Bath. They’ve also just started delivering to the Belfast Co-op. For a complete list of stores where their products can be found, look for their Facebook page.
