PORTLAND — Mother Nature: 1, Sea Dogs: 0.

Thursday’s Portland Sea Dogs Opening Day game against the Reading Fightin’ Phils at Hadlock Field was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. Mother Nature dropped several inches of snow on Hadlock Field overnight, spoiling the Sea Dogs’ 2015 season-opening game.

The Sea Dogs guaranteed baseball would be played at Hadlock Field on April 9, and as a result, anyone with tickets for the scheduled home opener may exchange each ticket for two tickets of equal or lesser value to any 2015 Sea Dogs home game, subject to availability. Any questions regarding rained-out tickets can be directed towards the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 879-9500 or tickets@seadogs.com.

“Our grounds crew and stadium operations staff did an incredible job getting the ballpark ready to play,” stated Sea Dogs General Manager Geoff Iacuessa. “However, Mother Nature had other plans and we will be honoring our Opening Day guarantee.”

Thursday’s postponed game will be made-up as a single admission doubleheader on May 23 at 1 p.m. The doubleheader will consist of two seven inning games.

The Sea Dogs and Fightin’ Phils are scheduled to play tonight at 6 p.m.
