LOWELL, Mass. — Alexis Bogdanovich threw a one-hitter and Emj Fogel went 4 for 4 to lead Maine to a 7-0 win over UMass-Lowell in the first game of an America East Conference softball doubleheader Saturday.

Bogdanovich struck out 13 and walked one while throwing her fifth shutout of the season. The Black Bears (14-15, 3-2 America East) scored five runs over the final two innings to pull away.

In Game 2, pinch-runner Chloe Douglass scored from second base on an error in the top of the eighth inning to give Black Bears a 5-4 victory.

Fogel had two hits and two RBI, and Felicia Lennon contributed two hits and two runs.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS EMMANUEL: Megan Pollini hit an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Monks (17-5, 9-3 GNAC) to a 3-2 win over Emmanuel (12-10, 7-5) in a doubleheader opener at Standish.

Theresa Hendrix pitched a five-hitter for the Monks, and Kim Jordan had a pair of hits and drove in a run.

St. Joseph’s completed the sweep with a 2-1 victory. The Monks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Pollini and an RBI double by Mariah Harrison.

UNE SWEEPS GORDON: Adrienne Chase went 4 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored to pace a 14-hit attack as the University of New England (14-9, 8-2 Commonwealth Coast) cruised to an 11-1 over the Fighting Scots (3-16, 2-6) in a five-inning game at Wenham, Massachusetts.

Katelyn Austin struck out eight and walked two while throwing a one-hitter, and Kelly Murphy had three hits and two RBI.

The Nor’easters completed the sweep with a 12-5 win, behind Amanda Vallante’s four hits and four runs scored. Chase added three hits, three RBI and two runs scored.

USM, UMASS-DARTMOUTH SPLIT: Samantha Crosman tripled and scored the go-ahead run on an infield single by Allison Pillar in the bottom of the sixth inning as USM (15-9, 3-3 Little East) earned a 4-3 win over the Corsairs (4-9, 1-2) in the opening game at Gorham.

USM took a 3-0 lead in the third inning when Kristen Duross hit a two-run triple and scored on a wild pitch.

The Huskies fell 4-2 in Game 2.

TUFTS SWEEPS BOWDOIN: Allyson Fournier struck out 20 in a one-hitter for Tufts (18-0, 2-0 NESCAC East) in the first of two shutouts against Bowdoin (15-8, 3-2) at Brunswick.

Tufts won the first game, 1-0. Bowdoin’s Emily Griffin allowed six hits and walked two.

In the second game, Cassie Ruscz homered and drove in five runs to lead the Jumbos to a 10-0 victory. Julia Geaumont took the loss, giving up five hits and four earned runs in five innings.

COLBY, BATES SPLIT: Emily Schatz hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Skylar Labbe added a three-run blast in the sixth, and Colby (6-12, 2-3 NESCAC East) held on for a 6-5 win over Bates (2-13, 1-4) in the second game of a doubleheader at Lewiston.

Kira Shaikh homered for Bates, which won the opener, 2-1.

UMPI SWEEPS SMCC: Carly Bell and Katie Patenaude scored two runs apiece as UMaine-Presque Isle (7-9) used a seven-run fourth inning to rally to a 9-7 win over Southern Maine Community College (2-8) in the second game of a doubleheader at South Portland.

Anna Allard had three hits for SMCC, and Danielle Mobbs had two hits and scored two runs.

Allard and Zoey Proctor each finished with two hits for the Nor’easters in a 4-2 loss in the opener.

LACROSSE

ST. JOSEPH’S 11. JOHNSON & WALES 8: Elyse Caiazzo scored six goals to lead the Monks (11-1, 8-0 GNAC) to a victory over Johnson & Wales (10-1, 5-1) at Providence, Rhode Island.

Caiazzo notched four goals in the first half as St. Joseph’s built a 7-1 halftime lead.

UNE 15, SALVE REGINA 6: Katie Cawley and Gina Newsome scored three goals apiece for the Nor’easters (6-7, 3-2 Commonwealth Coast) in a win over Salve Regina (3-8, 1-5) at Biddeford.

WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 18, SOUTHERN MAINE 17: Kelsey Keaton scored six goals and the Colonials (8-4, 3-0 Little East) went on an 8-2 run over the final 22 minutes to rally past the Huskies (3-9, 0-2) in Danbury, Connecticut.

Nicole LaPlante finished with five goals and an assist for USM, and Ahn Nguyen had four goals and three assists. USM also got three goals from Sarah Pelligrinelli and two from Lauren Lessard.

AMHERST 9, COLBY 8: Rachel Passarelli scored in the final second of overtime as the Lord Jeffs (8-4, 4-4 NESCAC) edged the Mules (9-4, 4-4) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Colby’s Abby Hooper scored twice in the final five minutes of regulation to force overtime. Abby Hatch led Colby with four goals and Hooper finished with three.

MIDDLEBURY 18, BATES 6: Sydney Cowles scored twice for Bates (6-8, 2-7 NESCAC) in a loss to Middlebury (10-1, 6-1) at Middlebury, Vermont.
