Cameron Glover had four goals and two assists to lead Brunswick to a 13-7 win over Mt. Ararat in a boys’ lacrosse season opener at McMann Field in Bath on Saturday.

TJ Sullivan and Christian Glover added two goals apiece for the Dragons, and Matt Brooks had one goal and two assists.

Mt. Ararat was led by Ben Bishop with four goals.

 Trevor Lachance scored twice and North Yarmouth Academy held on for a 5-3 win over Maranacook/Winthrop in an opener at Huard Field in Kents Hill.

Jeremy Thelvin, Nick Farnham and Jake Rasch also scored for the Panthers, who took a 4-0 lead with three goals in the second quarter.

PGA: Troy Merritt shot a 2-under 69 to take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, while defending champion Matt Kuchar and Masters winner Jordan Spieth stayed within reach.

A day after tying the course record with a 61 to build a four-stroke advantage at Harbour Town, Merritt had four birdies and a double bogey to reach 14-under 199.

Kuchar (68), Brendon Todd (63) and Kevin Kisner (67) were tied for second.

 Two-time Masters champion Tom Watson said his next visit to play Augusta National might be his last.

A fatigued Watson says at the RBC Heritage on Saturday that it’s getting more difficult for him to compete on the PGA Tour and he didn’t know how much longer he wanted to take away a spot in events from younger players.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Olin Browne shot a tournament-record 8-under 64 to take the second-round lead in the Champions Tour’s Greater Gwinnett Championship at Duluth, Georgia, and then watched Bernhard Langer match the mark to stay close.

Langer made a 30-foot eagle putt on No. 18 for his 64.

Browne was at 12 under, a shot ahead of Langer. Langer won the tournament in 2013 and finished second last year.

EUROPEAN TOUR: Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat shot a 4-under 68 to take the lead after the third round at the inaugural Shenzhen International at Shenzhen, China, though he let a five-shot advantage slip to two strokes with double bogey and bogey on this final two holes.

Kiradech had nine birdies in his round to sit at 12-under 204 overall.

TENNIS

FED CUP: Top-ranked Serena Williams overcame a stiff challenge in the opening set for a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over Italy’s Camila Giorgi in a Fed Cup World Group playoff at Brindisi, Italy.

Italy’s Sara Errani then evened the best-of-five series with the United States at 1 by routing 57th-ranked Lauren Davis 6-1, 6-2.

Williams improved to 19-0 overall this year and 15-0 for her career in Fed Cup.

MONTE CARLO MASTERS: Top-ranked Novak Djokovic overcame a strong challenge from Rafael Nadal to reach the final at Monaco with a 6-3, 6-3 win.

Djokovic, who extended his winning streak to 16 matches, will face sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych as he bids for a second title at the clay-court Masters.

Earlier, Berdych overwhelmed Gael Monfis 6-1, 6-4 to advance to his first final in Monte Carlo.

FOOTBALL

NFL: The Jaguars signed free-agent center Stefan Wisniewski to a one-year contract, providing them with much-needed depth for an line that allowed a franchise-high 71 sacks last season.
