BAR HARBOR — The cold weather may still be holding on, but there are signs that summer in Maine is right around the corner.

The National Park Service says that all vehicles are now welcome back on Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park.

The road usually opens April 15, but it was delayed because of the heavy snowfall this winter and cold weather this spring. The park says it hasn’t decided when its unpaved roads will be open. They usually do on May 15.

The park’s carriage roads will close on Wednesday  to protect the gravel surface, which is says gets soft when the weather warms up in the spring.
