CUMBERLAND — Miranda Moore and Kelsey Currier combined for a no-hitter Wednesday as Greely opened its softball season with a 15-1 win over Traip Academy in a game shortened to five innings at Cumberland.

Evan Carrell had a pair of hits for Greely, and Moira Train and Kayley Cimino each drove in three runs.

MT. BLUE 19, BRUNSWICK 5: The Cougars took advantage of 16 walks to deal the Dragons a five-inning loss in Brunswick.

Mariah Martin, Katelyn Wells and Taylor Burke each had two hits for Mt. Blue, which broke open a 5-5 tie with eight runs in the fifth inning and six in the sixth.

Emily Girardin and Alyssa Dunston had one hit each for Brunswick.

LEAVITT 16, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 8: Kaitlyn Deblois had three hits, including a double to pace a 14-hit attack as the Hornets beat the Phoenix in a mutual opener at Turner.

POLAND 3, KENNEBUNK 2: Kylie Martin pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run on nine hits while striking out seven as the Knights edged the Rams in the mutual opener at Poland.

Kennebunk scored single runs in the first and third innings.

Poland scored their runs in the bottom of the seventh for come-from-behind win.

Ally King took the loss, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs, striking out five and walking one.

SANFORD 6, MASSABESIC 2: Jeanette Jones went 3 for 4, including a double and triple and was the winning pitcher as the Spartans topped the Mustangs in the season opener at Waterboro.

GREELY 10, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Calvin Soule was 4 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBI to pace the offense as the Rangers shut out the Raiders at Cumberland in a game shortened to six innings by the 10-run rule.

Will Bryant pitched five shutout innings, allowing one hit, fanning 13 batters and walking one.

Ben Southwick had a double for Fryeburg Academy’s only hit.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 1, OCEANSIDE 0: Sawyer Pinkham won a pitchers’ duel as the Eagles won an opener over the Mariners at Thomaston.

Pinkham struck out one and walked one, and Oceanside’s Nick Mazurek struck out 12 and walked none.

The Eagles scored in the sixth when Devin Scherer doubled and scored on a single by Wally Morris.

BRUNSWICK 4, MT. BLUE 2: John Parker had three hits and two RBI and was also the winning pitcher for the visiting Dragons in an opener against the Cougars at Farmington.

Charlie Lowell also drove in a run. Lowell and Parker each had a double.

Parker struck out seven before being relieved by Elias Heinze with two outs in the seventh.

Brad Durrell had an RBI double for Mt. Blue.

BONNY EAGLE 4, MASSABESIC 2: Drake Laughlin went 3 for 4 as the Scots used 11 singles to top the Mustangs in the opener for both teams at Waterboro.

Devin Butler and Dana McKay each had a pair of hits in the balanced attack.

Derek Coulombe had a pair of hits, including a double for Massabesic.

KENNEBUNK 4, POLAND 1: Ben Lary and Sam Heikkinen each had a pair of hits as the Rams won an opener over the Knights at Poland.

Heikkinen hit a two-run double in the third inning, Eric Aiken scored on a double steal in the first and Thomas Wildes scored on a groundout in the fourth for Kennebunk.

Eric Aiken pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts.

LAWRENCE 8, MT. ARARAT 5: Adam Littlefield went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI to lead the Bulldogs to a season-opening victory in Topsham.

Cody Martin went 2 for 3 and Devon Webb added a pair of singles for Lawrence. JT Nutting pitched six innings to earn the victory.

Cam Cox had two hits to pace the Eagles.
