LEWISTON — John Paul Holbrook, 48, of Brunswick, died on Friday, April 17, 2015, at a Lewiston hospital surrounded by his family. He died from complications of a four-year blood disorder.

The son of Ronald and Donna (Wickett) Holbrook, he was born on June 28, 1966, in Brunswick, ME. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1985. John attended several marine engine schools.

He worked two years at BIW and then went to work in South Freeport for Brewers South Freeport Marina where he worked for 17 years. At the last he worked at Ocean Point Marina in East Boothbay Harbor, but had to leave due to illness.

John loved hunting, and fishing but most of all enjoyed riding around Casco Bay in his favorite red boat.

He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Donna, of Freeport, his sister Kathleen McLeod and her husband James of Washington, D.C., his brothers Marty Holbrook and his wife Kay of Brunswick, Peter Holbrook and his wife Angie of Durham, his devoted companion Tina Jones, of Brunswick, and his “third brother” and devoted friend Paulo Nascimento, of Brunswick. John’s dream trip came true for him when he was able to spend two weeks in Brazil with Paulo’s family. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Lee, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Danielle Holbrook.
