A 37-year-old Miami man who moved to Maine after being released from prison in Florida in February has been arrested on a felony heroin trafficking charge in a Canadian border town in Aroostook County.

Ignacio Roque, who had been living at Border View Apartments in Fort Fairfield, had more than 2 ounces of bulk, unpackaged heroin valued at more than $20,000 when authorities searched his apartment Thursday morning, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

During an investigation, MDEA agents worked with the Fort Fairfield Police Department and made undercover heroin purchases, the MDEA said in a written statement.

At the time of Roque’s arrest, he was also wanted on an arrest warrant from the state of Florida for parole violations there.

Roque was taken to the Arrostook County Jail in Houlton after his arrest and ordered held on $20,000 bail.

If convicted of heroin trafficking, a Class A felony, Roque will face as much as 30 years in prison.
