Domestic migration to and from Maine, 2011-2013

Many people who move to Maine come from Florida, New Hampshire or Massachusetts, and the same three states are popular destinations for Mainers who move away. Traffic is also heavy between Maine and California, Texas and Virginia. But the Dakotas and other states in the upper Midwest are barely on the map.

These domestic migration estimates are drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau's annual American Community Survey. All told, in the three-year period from 2011 to 2013, 95,223 people moved into Maine, while 97,233 moved away during those years, for a net estimated loss due to domestic migration of 2,010 people.
