SOCCER
MLS: Scott Caldwell scored his first MLS goal and had an assist, and the New England Revolution beat Real Salt Lake 4-0 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
New England (4-2-2) extended its undefeated streak to six games, while Real Salt Lake (2-2-3) lost its second straight.
Chris Tierney opened the scoring in the 39th minute. He faked a left-footed shot from the corner of the box, took one dribble and curled in a ball with his right foot.
TRACK AND FIELD
PENN RELAYS: Porscha Lucas led Team USA to victory in the women’s 800-meter relay in Philadelphia, and the Americans won four of six events in the U.S.A. vs. The World races.
In the men’s 4×1-mile relay, Will Geoghegan of Brunswick helped Oregon finish second. The Ducks’ first three runners, Daniel Winn, Johnny Gregorek and Geoghegan, all ran 4:01 miles. Edward Cheserek ran the final leg.
PREP SCHOOLS
BASEBALL: Jack McCraven had a pair of hits for Berwick Academy (4-3) in a 5-2 loss against Lexington Christian Academy at Lexington, Massachusetts.
Conor Tully started the game for the Bulldogs and gave up two runs, one earned, in four innings.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE: Tilly Burzynski scored four goals to lead Berwick Academy (6-0) to a 13-8 win over Newton Country Day (2-2) at Newton, Massachusetts.
Aimee Briand and Siobahn McDermott added three goals apiece for the Bulldogs. Briand also had an assist.
BOYS’ LACROSSE: Drew Hale finished with five goals and two assists for Berwick Academy (6-4) in a 14-7 win over Lexington Christian Academy at Lexington, Massachusetts.
Nate McCrone and Sam Zimmerman added three goals apiece for the Bulldogs. McCrone also had an assist.
TENNIS
Porsche Grand Prix: Caroline Wozniacki reached the final with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 win over second-seeded Simona Halep, and home favorite Kerber defeated Madison Brengle of the United States 6-3, 6-1.
BARCELONA OPEN: Defending champion Kei Nishikori is back in the final after beating Martin Klizan 6-1, 6-2.
Nishikori will face Pablo Andujar, who ousted David Ferrer 7-6 (6), 6-3
NASTASE TIRIAC TROPHY: Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Jiri Vesely will play for the title in Bucharest, Romania, where they will meet for the first time on tour.
HOCKEY
U18 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: The United States defeated Canada 7-2 in Zug, Switzerland, to advance to the final of the under-18 world championships.
Kevin White had three goals and Auston Matthews two for the Americans. The U.S. will play for the gold medal Sunday against Finland.
