The Blue Wave 12U girls’ basketball team, which includes players from South Portland and Gorham, finished first out of 23 teams at the HoopRootz Gold Rush Classic on April 11-12 in Hanover, Massachusetts. The team won all five of its games, including a semifinal win over the Boston Bobcats and a championship game victory over the host team – Mass Attack.

Blue Wave qualified for the Zero Gravity Nationals, which will be held in June in Boston.

Dave Busch made a hole-in-one on the seventh hole at Nonesuch River Golf Course on April 18. Busch used a 7-iron for the 139-yard shot, which was witnessed by Andy Bernard, Aaron Muse and Phil O’Hearn.

Elizabeth Linnell-Oken used a 5-hybrid to ace the fourth hole at Toddy Brook Golf Course in North Yarmouth on April 19. The 85-yard shot was witnessed by Tim Rich, Travis Rich, Lexi Rich and Michael Oken.
