Jen Jones pitched a two-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and no walks Wednesday to lead Sanford to an 8-0 victory against Portland in an SMAA softball game.

Jones also had two doubles, a single and two RBI for the Spartans (4-0) against the Bulldogs (1-2).

Lauren Thompson added two RBI.

SCARBOROUGH 5, BONNY EAGLE 0: Sophia Burnham had an RBI double in a three-run third inning as the Red Storm (3-0) shut out the Scots (0-2) at Standish.

Lilly Volk had an inside-the-park homer in the sixth inning, and Maggie Murphy added a pair of singles for Scarborough.

Abbie Murphy of the Red Storm allowed one hit, striking out eight and walking two.

THORNTON ACADEMY 5, GORHAM 2: Bailey Tremblay struck out nine to lead Thornton Academy (3-0) over the Rams (1-2) at Gorham.

Tremblay allowed three hits and walked one,.

Gorham scored two runs in the first inning. The Trojans were scoreless until a three-run fourth, when Barrett Campbell had an RBI single, and two more runs scored on an error and a groundout.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 4, POLAND 3: Cara Waltz hit a two-out single through the right side to bring home Sara Carder in the seventh inning, capping a two-run rally that lifted the Patriots (3-0) past Poland (2-2) at Gray.

Alie Martell scored the tying run when a pop fly fell in the infield.

Martell earned the win with four innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits.

MARSHWOOD 13, CHEVERUS 0: Elore Montgomery and Meghan Sandler each had two-run doubles in a 10-run fourth inning as the Hawks (2-1) pulled away from the Stags (0-3) in a five-inning game at South Berwick.

Jill Marcus and Gianna Riccardi each went 3 for 3 for Marshwood, which totaled 12 hits.

Sophia Giancotti had a pair of singles for Cheverus.

Emily Robida scattered five singles for the Hawks, not allowing a run and striking out seven with no walks.

DEERING 3, WESTBROOK 2: Siobhan Densmore hit a triple in the sixth inning and scored the eventual winner when she escaped a rundown between third and home as the Rams (2-2) nipped the Blue Blazes (0-3) at Westbrook.

Westbrook scored twice in the bottom of the seventh but fell short.

Sidney Giroux had a pair of singles for Deering.

Camryn LaPierre hit a single and double for the Blue Blazes.

CAPE ELIZABETH 15, FALMOUTH 3: Ashley Tinsman, Tess Haller and Hannah Saderly drove in three runs apiece to lead Cape Elizabeth (2-2) to a six-inning win over the Yachtsmen (0-2) at Falmouth.

Madeline Bauman, the winning pitcher, struck out one with no walks and surrendered 10 hits.

Maddie Rouhanna paced Falmouth with three hits, including a fifth-inning homer.

YARMOUTH 22, FREEPORT 0: Mari Cooper went 4 for 4 and took a perfect game into the fifth as the Clippers (3-0) downed Freeport (0-2) in five innings at Yarmouth.

Kaitlin Johnson singled for the Falcons leading off the fifth and finished as their only baserunner.

Cat Thompson and Colleen Sullivan chipped in with three hits apiece for Yarmouth.

YORK 4, KENNEBUNK 2: Stephanie Rundlett collected 14 more strikeouts and Sophie Stephens drove in two runs to help the Wildcats (3-0) get past the Rams (0-4) at York.

Stephens’ RBI double sparked a three-run sixth inning that gave York a 4-1 lead. Sequoia Fister added an RBI single and Layne Patry a run-scoring double.

Kennebunk got one back in the seventh on Allie Gregoire’s RBI triple, but Rundlett struck out the last two batters. Rundlett has 45 strikeouts through three games.

BIDDEFORD 8, MASSABESIC 5: Jocelyn Moody went 2 for 2 with an RBI and three runs as the Tigers (2-1) outlasted the Mustangs (0-3) at Biddeford.

After surrendering a run in the first inning, Biddeford answered with a pair in the second, then added three in the fourth and two in the fifth for a 7-2 lead.

Sarah Howe tripled for Massabesic, which had five players with multiple-hit games.

Abbie Paquette won it, striking out 10 and walking three.

MORSE 11, MT. VIEW 10: Sierra Wallace and Mikayla Rose had three hits apiece, Olivia Potter hit her first varsity home run, and the Shipbuilders (2-1) outlasted the Mustangs (1-2) at Bath.

Morse overcame a 7-6 deficit with a five-run sixth inning. Potter’s two-run shot put the Shipbuilders ahead, and Leia Graves added a three-run double before Morse survived Mt. View’s three-run seventh.

WINDHAM 5, MCAULEY 1: Olivia Mora singled, doubled and homered, drove in three runs and scored twice to power the Eagles (3-0) past McAuley (1-2) at Windham.

Danielle Tardiff struck out nine and walked none in a four-hitter for the win.

TRAIP ACADEMY 18, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 4: Riley Eddy struck out eight in a three-hitter as Traip Academy (1-3) downed the Seagulls (0-3) in six innings at Old Orchard Beach.

The Rangers scored nine runs in the fifth. Eddy started the rally with a two-run double and Bri Lamoureux added a two-run homer.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 8, WELLS 3: Nicole Bennett pitched a three-hitter to help the Raiders (3-0) down Wells (1-2) at Fryeburg.

The Raiders trailed 3-0 in the fifth inning before Amanda Gillette tied it with a three-run triple. Lexi L’Heureux-Carland gave Fryeburg the lead with a single.

The Raiders tacked on four runs in the sixth with RBI singles from Bennett and Makayla Cooper, and an RBI double from Hailey Hudson.

LACROSSE

GREELY 12, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 7: Courtney Sullivan had four goals and Maegan Dougherty finished with three as the Rangers (2-0) handled the Panthers (0-2) at Cumberland.

Ellie Schad and Meghan O’Donovan each had two goals, and Erin Molloy made six saves for the Rangers.

Mary Noyes had three goals for NYA.
