The spring season has gotten underway, on a limited basis, for each school in our coverage area.

While things really began in earnest Monday, some early results turned heads.

Baseball

Brunswick’s baseball team won its first two contests, 4-2 at Mt. Blue and 12-2 at home over Mt. Ararat, before falling to 2-1 Monday after a 5-2 setback at Oxford Hills. The Dragons hosted Lewiston Wednesday, play at Brewer Friday, welcome Bangor Monday and visit Cony Tuesday.

Mt. Ararat was 0-3 at press time, having lost to visiting Lawrence (8-5), at Brunswick (12-2) and at home to Messalonskee (16-0). The Eagles were at Skowhegan Wednesday, play at Mt. Blue Friday and visit Oxford Hills Tuesday.

In Western B, Morse lost at home to Lincoln in its opener, 6-1. The Shipbuilders were home against Mt. View Wednesday, visit Medomak Valley Friday and Camden Hills Monday.

Softball

Mt. Ararat’s softball team got off to the best start, winning two of its first three games. The Eagles handled visiting Lawrence in the opener, 14-1, then won at Brunswick (5-3). Monday, Mt. Ararat lost at home to Messalonskee, 16-1. The Eagles were at Skowhegan Wednesday, play at Mt. Blue Friday and visit Oxford Hills Tuesday.

Brunswick was 0-3 at press time, losing at Mt. Blue (18-5), at home to Mt. Ararat (5-3) and at Oxford Hills (10-2). The Dragons hosted Lewiston Wednesday, play at Brewer Friday, welcome Bangor Monday and visit Cony Tuesday.

Morse lost its opener, 5-3, to visiting Lincoln. The Shipbuilders were home against Mt. View Wednesday, visit Medomak Valley Friday and Camden Hills Monday.

Boys’ lacrosse

Brunswick’s boys’ lacrosse team, the defending Eastern A champion, has lived up to preseason billing, handling visiting Mt. Ararat (13-7) and host Edward Little (21-1) to start the year. The Dragons go to Messalonskee Friday and visit Oxford Hills Tuesday.

Mt. Ararat followed its 13-7 loss at Brunswick with a 12-3 home victory over Cony. The Eagles went to Lewiston Wednesday, play host to Edward Little Friday and play at Messalonskee Tuesday.

Morse opened its season at home Wednesday versus Camden Hills. The Shipbuilders welcome Gardiner Saturday and play host to Oak Hill Tuesday.

Girls’ lacrosse

Brunswick’s girls’ lacrosse team began its season with a 12-8 home loss to Lewiston last Thursday. After going to Lewiston Tuesday, the Dragons went to Cony Thursday and host Oxford Hills Monday.

Mt. Ararat opened at home Tuesday versus Deering. The Eagles went to Gardiner Thursday and play host to Lewiston Monday.

Morse played its first game Thursday at home against Messalonskee. The Shipbuilders host Gardiner Saturday.
