A Bowdoinham man was killed in Sabattus Monday morning when the car he was driving crashed into another car after crossing the center line to avoid a cat, police said.
Kenneth Hutter, 58, was driving a Nissan sport utility vehicle west on Crowley Road when he swerved to avoid a cat in the road and hit a 2007 Dodge sedan in the coming lane, police said.
The driver of the Dodge, Michelle Lowell of Poland and a passenger were taken to Central Maine Medical Center for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Both cars were destroyed.
The crash is being investigated by the Sabattus police with assistance from the Maine State Police.
