SCARBOROUGH – More than 1,300 homes and businesses in the neighborhoods around Pine Point Road in Scarborough were without electricity late Monday night after a car ran into a utility pole.

A dispatcher for the Scarborough Police Department said the car hit the pole around 10 p.m. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash, but the homes and businesses remained without power late Monday.

A total of 1,357 customers lost power, according to Central Maine Power Co.’s website. Police couldn’t estimate when power might be restored.
