SKOWHEGAN — A man who brought a gun to a church-based homeless shelter in Skowhegan and used it to threaten the church’s pastor has been sentenced to a month in jail.
Authorities say 24-year-old Raymond Lewis was sentenced to serve 30 days of a one-year sentence and a year of probation after pleading guilty to terrorizing with a dangerous weapon.
Police say Lewis was staying at shelter at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church last month when officers responded to the facility for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Chief Ted Blais says a witness told officers he saw Lewis loading a handgun and heard him make a statement about shooting pastor Richard Berry.
Lewis consented to a search of his vehicle, and the .45 caliber handgun was found in the glove box.
