On May 3, the Maine Sunday Telegram ran an editorial cartoon by Lisa Benson (Page D3).

It showed President Obama beating on a broken drum labeled “Obama Economy” while the president loudly yelled “Boom! Boom! Boom!” Watching from the curb were two hapless souls holding signs that read “Help!” The implication was that the economy is not what the president says it is and that the unemployed are ignored.

The first year President Obama took office, the Dow was under 8,000 and unemployment was at or near 10 percent, and the year he was elected, gasoline was $4.43 a gallon. Today the Dow is over 18,000, unemployment is about 5.5 percent, and gasoline is about $2.50 a gallon.

I realize that editorial cartoons are meant to reflect the opinion of the artist. So what does this cartoon say about Lisa Benson? That she’s delusional?
