SOUTH PORTLAND – On Wednesday, May 20, at noon, the Cancer Community Center in South Portland will host a workshop, entitled “Making Salads Exciting Again,” with Brad Messier, the chef at Rosemont Market & Bakery.

This workshop, which is free and open to anyone touched by cancer, is the first in a series of workshops marking a new collaboration between Rosemont and the cancer center. Although the event is free, pre-registration is recommended. Go online to www.cancercommunitycenter.org to sign up or call 774-2200 for more information.

The session on Wednesday will include information about local greens that are in peak season and how to clean, store, and prepare them. Messier will also create a few dressings, work with some quick pickles and share ideas on how to turn a healthy salad into a satisfying meal.

“Rosemont is pleased to be partnering with the Cancer Community Center to support consumers in understanding the personal health benefits of eating fresh, seasonal foods, from right where we live,” said Molly Thompson, the marketing and outreach director for the market.
