Gorham’s Dan Foley said even though he was voted off the CBS reality show “Survivor” last week, he had “zero regrets.”

“This whole thing was a dream come true,” Foley told a crowd last week at the viewing party he’s hosted to watch the televised show.

This week, Foley and his wife, Erin, were in Los Angeles to attend the show’s finale on Wednesday, May 20. So, Foley’s local viewing party on Wednesday at Thatcher’s Restaurant in South Portland was to be hosted by Bob Crowley, the 2008 “Survivor” winner and a retired Gorham High School physics teacher.

“I’m going to have the microphone,” Crowley said Tuesday, “because Dan is going to be in California and I’ll be entertaining his guests.”

This season’s final “Survivor” episode was aired on WGME-TV 13 after the American Journal deadline on Wednesday.

This season’s “Survivor” was filmed in Nicaragua last summer and the show premiered on Feb. 25 with 18 cast members. The object was not to get voted off by fellow cast members. The winner gets $1 million.

Last week, entering episode 13, the popular Foley, a technician at the postal plant in Scarborough, was one of the six remaining cast members. A surprise guest at Foley’s party last week was “Survivor” cast member Rodney Lavoie of Boston, who stayed alive in his bid as the sole survivor.

“Boston Rodney has just entered the house,” a surprised Foley said before last week’s airing.

Foley’s loyal following had hoped that Foley would make the final.

“I think he’s going to do it,” Bob Tevanian of Portland said. “Go all the way.”

However, episode 13 of this season’s show proved to be an unlucky number for Foley. But he received a standing ovation at his viewing party in the restaurant packed with friends and fans.

While the crowd cheered Foley, it found his ouster disappointing.

“I really hoped he’d win the million,” said Robin Kalde, who works with Foley. “Dan is very enthusiastic, very caring and loves his job.”
