YORK — The Maine Turnpike Authority reports heavy traffic at the southern end of the toll road as visitors wrap up their three-day weekend and begin heading south.
Motorists traveling southbound are being advised of heavy traffic between Exit 19 in Wells and New Hampshire state line.
The Maine Turnpike Authority projected that more than 890,000 vehicles would be on the road over the holiday weekend.
All told, traffic across New England was expected to be the highest in a decade. The turnpike authority is expecting traffic to be up 5.2 percent this weekend compared to last year.
