Giving Back

Allagash Brewing Co. on May 8 hosted a beer-tasting event that raised $10,000 for Full Plates Full Potential, a charity working to end childhood hunger in Maine. More than 650 people visited Allagash’s Portland headquarters for the event, which featured beers brewed by Allagash and other craft-beer companies in California and Belgium.

Grants

The Frannie Peabody Center, a Portland-based community provider of HIV/AIDS services, recently was awarded a total of $3.7 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The grants will help provide housing assistance for people with HIV/AIDS, especially those who are part of racial or ethnic minority populations, living in rural areas, or have complex social, physical or legal needs.

New Hires, Promotions and Appointments

C Salt Gourmet Market has hired Cheryl Lewis as general manager. Lewis was most recently chef at El Rayo Taqueria in Portland. She also has served as chef-owner of Cafe Always and Aurora Provisions, and held positions with the Black Point Inn and Stonewall Kitchen. C Salt opened last October at 394 Ocean House Road, Cape Elizabeth.

Liz Monaghan, of Cape Elizabeth, has joined Bangor Savings Bank as a mortgage development officer, working at the bank’s branch on Forest Avenue in Portland. Monaghan has over 28 years of lending experience, including positions at TD Bank and First Financial Mortgage. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Boston College.

Anna Edgerley, senior vice president of Cumberland-based Norton Insurance Agency, was recently named chairwoman of the Maine Insurance Agents Association. Edgerley, of Brunswick, has worked for Norton since 1992, and became a partner in 2004. For the past five years, she has served on the board of the MIAA.

Tyler Fish has been hired as a remote support specialist at Winxnet, a technology outsourcing and consulting firm. Fish will work in the firm’s Portland headquarters. Before joining Winxnet, he worked at Portland Gastroenterology as an endoscopy technician.

Macpage, a certified public accounting firm with headquarters in South Portland, recently hired Camberly Nevills as an administrative associate. Nevills graduated from the University of Houston in 2007 with a degree in accounting.

Healthcentric Advisors recently promoted Danielle Hersey from program coordinator to Maine program director, managing a staff of seven in its Brunswick office. Healthcentric Advisors is a nonprofit firm providing consulting, research and education services for health-care quality improvement. Hersey, of Harpswell, is a registered nurse who earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine.

New Beginnings

Hoyle, Tanner & Associates, a transportation and infrastructure engineering firm, has relocated its Maine office from Winthrop to Brunswick Landing, the business park on the site of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station. The new, larger office is at 2 Pegasus St., Suite 1, Unit 200, Brunswick. Hoyle, Tanner has hired Andrew E. Sturgeon, a professional land surveyor with 34 years of experience, to direct the office.

Recognition

Topsham resident Vaughn Stinson, former chief executive officer of the Maine Tourism Association, was given the group’s Hall of Fame Award at the MTA annual meeting, held May 18 at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport. The award recognizes Stinson’s “dedication and longstanding service to Maine’s tourism industry,” according to a press release. Stinson retired from the MTA last year, after holding leadership roles for nearly two decades in the state’s hospitality field.

Roger Sirois received the James Gratto Award at the annual meeting of the Maine Credit Union League, held earlier this month at Holiday Inn By The Bay in Portland. Sirois is chief executive officer of Brunswick-based Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union, where he has worked for 29 years and has served as CEO since 2008. The award recognizes leaders who demonstrate excellence in the credit union industry.
