YARMOUTH — A Boothbay Harbor man was arrested on U.S. Route 1 after a 45-minute car chase last week.
Dale Havens, 35, was arrested on May 21 by Officer Shawn Miles. He was charged with violating conditions of release, eluding an officer, speeding by more than 30 mph over the speed limit, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Lt. Dean Perry said the chase began at 10:10 p.m., when an officer saw Havens’ vehicle stop at a yellow traffic light. Perry said Havens sat in his vehicle and “stared off into space for about a minute.” Finding the behavior unusual, the officer tried to pull over Havens over, who then drove off.
Two officers from Yarmouth, as well as one from Falmouth and one from Freeport, were part of the chase, which ended when Havens crashed his vehicle. An unidentified female passenger was taken to the hospital.
