SANFORD — In recognition of the efforts of teachers, students, and their families to help build a bright future for the city, the Sanford School Department is hosting the 4th annual “Celebration of Learning,” on Thursday, at Veterans Memorial Gym, Main Street,

“Just as it takes a community to raise a child, it is equally as important to involve the community to celebrate the successes of our children,” said Community Collaboration Coordinator Kristen Wiegand.

The Celebration of Learning will be a student-led event. There will be performances every half hour representing each school with a variety of presentations. Guests will have the opportunity to watch videos, visit exhibits, and talk with educational leaders and students from each school. The Sanford High School Jazz Band will play at the event. Sanford Vision totes with goodies will be awarded to the first 100 people attending, Wiegand said, and there will be ice cream coupons handed out to students throughout the event.

The celebration will be held from 4-6:30 p.m., Thursday. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Our Schools Our Future will be hosting a free family spaghetti dinner at the gym. Families who attend the event will receive a meal ticket from the Our Schools Our Future table in the gym.
