Re: “LePage bashes foes of income tax overhaul” (May 30): There is no doubt the damage done by Gov. Paul LePage to the people and resources of our great state will be incalculable by the time we are rid of him.
In the meantime, the barrage of foul and insulting language, the game playing, the total lack of concern for the results of his actions, the blatant disregard for the truth, the complete lack of a moral compass (as near as one can tell), continues unabated.
We cannot impeach him, I am told, because the state constitution does not provide for it.
But his continual refusal to release the money for conservation that voters approved and deeply desire, his failure to cooperate with others in Augusta or elsewhere, his failure at job growth, health care and education improvement, and now his statement that he will veto any bill submitted by a Democrat certainly constitutes malfeasance in office by anyone’s standards.
Why do we let this go on? He is not doing the job he swore to do. He fails and/or refuses to govern. Anyone else refusing to do his or her job gets fired.
I have to believe that among the fine legal minds in our midst, there is someone who can find a way to recall him. We have a long and distinguished history of the citizen initiative. How about utilizing that?
I’m not alone in offering to gather signatures and learning what it would take to peacefully, legally remove him before he gets a chance to do more harm. Think about it and brainstorm among your friends and associates.
