BOYS
Isaac Salas, Waynflete, tennis: Salas captured the MPA’s state singles title with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over top-seeded Nick Mathieu of Mt. Ararat. Salas, the second seed, won four of the final five points in the tiebreaker and then overcame an early deficit in the second set before prevailing.
HONORABLE MENTION
Dan Guiliani, South Portland, track: Guiliani broke a 38-year SMAA shot put record in the league championship meet with a throw of 65-feet, 5.25 inches to break Ed Bogdanovich’s record of 59 feet, 2 inches set in 1977.
Bryce Kuhn, Falmouth, lacrosse: Kuhn scored six goals, including the winner, in an 11-9 win over Cape Elizabeth, the first win after seven straight losses to the Capers. In the previous game, Kuhn had eight goals in a 16-4 win over Kennebunk.
Connor Aube, Falmouth, baseball: Aube went 2 for 2 with four runs, two RBI and four stolen bases as the Yachtsmen defeated Yarmouth, 11-1.
GIRLS
Olivia Leavitt, Falmouth, tennis: Leavitt won her third consecutive MPA state singles title with a 6-4, 7-6 (1) win over Bethany Hammond of St. Dominic on Monday. Leavitt captured seven straight points in the tiebreaker to close out the match.
HONORABLE MENTION
Lily Volk, Scarborough, softball: Volk pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and only one walk in a 9-1 victory against second-ranked Biddeford. She also had two hits and drove in two runs in the game.
Alexandra Hart, Thornton Academy, track: Hart, a freshman, captured the 100, 200 and 400 to lead the Golden Trojans to the SMAA girls’ track championship.
Kate Hall, Lake Region, track: Hall broke her meet record twice in the long jump at the Western Maine Conference championship. Her second jump was 20 feet, 5 inches. Hall also captured the 100 and 200 with times of 11.8 and 25.2 seconds.
