Sanford voters approved a $36.5 million school budget Tuesday by a vote of 420-251.

The spending plan for the fiscal year starting July 1 contains an increase of about $1.3 million, 3.6 percent, over the current budget.

Voters also approved a $14.3 million municipal budget, by a vote of 419-251.

The municipal spending plan for the coming fiscal year is up $436,000, 3.1 percent, over the current budget.

The combined school and municipal budgets will increase property taxes in Sanford by $44 per $100,000 of real estate value, $88 a year for the owner of a home assessed at $200,000.
