OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Residents approved 337-141, $1.2 million for the purchase of a new ladder truck.
The new fire truck will replace a fire truck that has been determined by more than one inspector to have a limited remaining service life, according to town documents. When the current ladder truck underwent inspection for required certification, “significant deterioration” of numerous structural and other vital components was found, according to town documents.
Fire Chief Ricky Plummer urged residents at a public hearing last month to approve funding for a new ladder truck to replace a current ladder truck in need of $220,000 of repairs. The current ladder truck has been temporarily mended so that it will be serviceable until a replacement arrives.
