Dan Guiliani, South Portland, track: Guiliani broke the state Class A shot put record at Saturday’s state meet with a throw of 62 feet, 8.25 inches. He bettered the record held by Dan Smith of Thornton Academy. Smith threw 60 feet, 3.75 inches in 2009. Guiliani placed second in the discus.

HONORABLE MENTION

Jack Bouchard, York, track: Bouchard broke the state Class B javelin record with a throw of 200 feet, 6 inches. He broke the mark held by Nick Danner of Waterville, who set it in 2013 with a throw of 192 feet, 9 inches. Bouchard’s points helped the Wildcats win their second state title in four years.

Jake Dixon, Cheverus, track: Dixon established a state record in the 400 meters with a time of 48.45 seconds in Saturday’s Class A state meet. Dixon also finished second in the 200.

Sam Luebbert, Deering, baseball: Luebbert pitched a five-hitter and struck out seven as the ninth-ranked Rams beat No. 8 Cheverus 12-2 in a Western Class A prelim. He mixed a curve and a fastball to shut down the Stags.

GIRLS

Kate Hall, Lake Region, track: Hall broke her own Class B state records in the long jump and the 100. Hall jumped 20 feet, 4.75 inches in the long jump and was timed in 11.68 seconds in the 100. She also won the 200 (24.82) and ran the anchor leg in the 400-meter relay.

HONORABLE MENTION

Alex Hart, Thornton Academy: Hart set a Class A record in the 400 with a time of 56.87 seconds, won the 200, finished second in the 100 and was fourth in the long jump to spark the Golden Trojans to their second straight outdoor title.

Alyssa Coyne, Greely, track: Coyne won the shot put (37 feet, 6.75 inches) and the discus (127-10) to score valuable points for the Rangers, who finished third with 52 points in the Class B state meet.

Julia Treadwell, Falmouth, softball: Treadwell pitched a one-hitter and had a two-run double to lead seventh-ranked Falmouth to a 4-0 win over No. 10 Marshwood in a Western Class A preliminary-round game. She had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning.
