Coast Guard Sector Northern New England will hold a change of command ceremony Thursday as outgoing Capt. Brian Gilda is replaced by Capt. Michael Baroody.
Baroody is currently deputy sector commander of the Houston-Galveston district. Gilda has been commander of Sector Northern New England for two years.
Sector Northern New England covers Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and part of northern New York. The territory includes 5,100 miles of coastline and the border with Canada both on the Atlantic and Lake Champlain. The commander oversees 540 active duty Coast Guardsmen in the sector.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ocean Gateway Terminal in Portland.
Gilda is being replaced as part of a regularly scheduled change in command, a Coast Guard spokeswoman said.
