WATERVILLE — A local woman was arrested on Spring Street Monday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a man with whom she had previously been in a relationship and screaming that he had raped her hundreds of times.
Codi Parker, 27, of Waterville, was charged with domestic violence assault, according to Sgt. Alden Weigelt of the Waterville Police Department. She was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.
The man, whom the Morning Sentinel is not identifying, was walking on Spring Street with several children on bikes when Parker drove by and called police, but she confronted the man before police arrived.
“She thought there was a warrant in our system for the man and decided to intervene before police got here,” Weigelt said.
Parker could be heard screaming that the man had raped her “hundreds of times.” Weigelt said she also hit him, but no weapons were involved.
There are no arrest warrants out for the man, Weigelt said.
The scene near the Goodwill Industries store on Spring Street drew several police officers and a large crowd of onlookers.
“It created a lot of concern on the part of the public,” Weigelt said.
Parker was released on $500 unsecured bail, meaning that she will have to pay the $500 only if she does not show up for a scheduled court appearance. She is scheduled to appear in Waterville District Court on July 7.
