Both northbound lanes of Interstate 295 in Yarmouth have reopened after being closed briefly because of a tractor-trailer fire Monday afternoon, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

The fire was near Mile 17, the Freeport-Yarmouth exit.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area as traffic continues to move slowly there, the department said in an announcement at 4:20 p.m.
