Brian Gehan’s business, Climbing Arborist, specializes in tree removal and pruning in areas that can’t be accessed by bucket trucks. Gehan, 40, of Georgetown, says his background as a mountaineer helps his current business. “I have the ability, because of my rope and climbing experience, to be really low impact to the tree and the property,” he said. “That fits well with many of the properties that I work on along the coast.” Using harnesses and ropes, Gehan climbs the tree he’s working on and cuts from the top down, lowering tree sections by rope in delicate areas. He started Climbing Arborist in 2009.
