Livermore Falls police are investigating vandalism to about 25 small flags that a resident placed along the bridge spanning the Androscoggin River between Livermore Falls and Livermore.
It appears someone snapped the rods holding the decorative flags and either stole them or discarded them, Officer Devon Bohacik said Wednesday.
The flags are recycled, having been taken off the graves of veterans in the fall. A resident gets them from the American Legion in Jay and on his own, places them along the bridge, Bohacik said.
Police believe the vandalism was committed Tuesday between 6 and 8 a.m. They ask that anyone who saw anything suspicious at that time or has information about the crime contact Livermore Fall police at 897-6425.
