FALMOUTH — Margaret F. Bowie Rendall, 103, formerly of Falmouth, died peacefully July 5 at Bay Square in Yarmouth, where she had resided for the past five years.

Rendall was born June 16, 1912, in Durham, to Leon R. and Almeda Libby Bowie. She attended Durham schools and was a graduate of Edward Little High School. She went onto receive her teaching certificate from Farmington Normal School, and later, her bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Maine.

Rendall served as a teacher for over 40 years, beginning in a one-room school in Pownal where one of her registered “students” was Jack, a dog. She subsequently taught in Freeport and Auburn, and in subprimary classes at Thornton Heights in South Portland.

She married Ellsworth “Bud” Rendall on July 30, 1949. The couple enjoyed traveling, especially with their friends Irene and Artie Willette and Tom and Shirley Craven. Margaret also was an avid gardener.

Rendall was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Alton, Louis, Philip, Leon Jr., Frank, Alice, Louise and Dorothy.

She is survived by her brother, Maynard M. Bowie and his wife, Glenice, of Wales; her sister-in-law, Lucille Bowie, of Durham; her stepdaughter, Sally, of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.

At Rendall’s request, there will be no service. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Bay Square who provided for her.
