BIDDEFORD — Mary Newcomb Moore Hill, age 88, ended her earthly life July 14, 2015, at home.

She was born Jan. 4, 1927 in Biddeford to Robert and Marcia Fogg Moore and graduated from Thornton Academy and University of Maine in 1948. She married Lynwood Hill June 26, 1948 ”“ “the boy whom she invited to the Sadie Hawkins Dance.”

Mary was a math teacher at Anson Academy/Carrabec High School, a member of North Anson Women’s Club, librarian at Stewart Public Library in North Anson, helper at Skowhegan Free Public Library and president of the Friends of the Library.

In her younger years she enjoyed tennis, golf, biking, downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and canoeing. After her husband’s retirement, they spent several winters in Florida, where Mary was a dispatcher for the Beverly Hills Crime Watchers. She was also a seamstress, knitter and voracious reader. She loved gatherings with her family and was very proud of all of her extended family.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; and brother, Thomas Moore.

She is survived by: her husband, Lynwood of Skowhegan; children, Eric Hill and wife Joyce of Dedham, Martha Fritz and husband Hervey of Frelinghusen Township, New Jersey, and Nancy Sackett and husband Michael of Solon; and sister-in-law, Virginia Wing Moore of Kennebunk. Also: her grandchildren, Erica Gilpatric, Kerry Shrewsbury, Kevin Sargent, Andrew Sargent, Jennifer Park, and Sarah Raji; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be held from 1-3 p.m. Friday, July 31 at the Methodist Church in North Anson, with a memorial service starting at 3 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.
