Trey Fletcher had two hits and scored two runs and Ben Sawyer added two hits and two RBI to lead Portland to a 9-0 win over Apple Valley in the championship game of the Babe Ruth baseball state tournament for 14-year-olds at Deering Oaks.

Fletcher was named MVP of the tournament. Portland advances to the New England Regional in Westfield, Massachusetts, starting Friday.

Portland starter Cam King gave up one hit over six shutout innings to earn the win.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE

EDGE ACADEMY 5, LENDERS NETWORK 0: Alec Manning hit a two-run homer in the top of the first inning and Edge Academy (5-11) went on to beat Lenders Network (14-2) at Cumberland.
