ARUNDEL — Ronald Roger Bergeron, 70, of Arundel, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20, 2015, at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

He was born in Biddeford on July 11, 1945, a son of Francis Xavier and Simone Marie-Reine (Marcotte) Bergeron. He was educated at Biddeford schools.

Ron served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of the Alpha Association and kept in close contact with several of his Army brothers. They were a tight-knit group.

On July 31, 1965, he married Sandra Lonsdale Bergeron. They lived in Arundel and had a son, Greg, and a daughter, Sarah. His children were the apple of his eye.

Ron was employed by Maremont Corporation and Don’s Sheet Metal, retiring in 1990.

He enjoyed working around his home and going out to lunch with his family and friends. But his most cherished times were spending time with his grandchildren Justin, Michael, Kade and Lyla.

He is preceded in death by: his father and mother; a sister, Jacqueline; and son, Greg, in 2014.

He is survived by: his wife, Sandra; and his daughter, Sarah Scholz and her husband Justin. He is also survived by: eight siblings, Rita Belanger and her husband Rocky, Paul Bergeron, Priscella Miles, Robert Bergeron and his wife Donna, Muriel Tardif and her husband Armand, Phillip Bergeron and his wife Elaine, Madeline Jasmin and her partner Gilbert Gray, and Raymond Bergeron; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 23 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
