No one was hurt in a fire that started in a dryer in the basement of a home at 46 Burwell Ave.  South Portland home Saturday at 5:20 p.m.

The owners of the home were outside when firefighters arrived. The firefighters rescued several cats and rabbits inside the home. The fire was contained to the basement.

Fire Chief Kevin Guimond said the fire started in the dryer and spread to some stored materials.
