The producers of the cable TV series “American Pickers” are looking for interesting Mainers with interesting stuff to be filmed for upcoming episodes.

Producers of the History channel show are hoping to film throughout Maine in August, and are looking for leads that will help them find people and locations, according to an email from Randi Rosenthal, an associate producer. The show features two “pickers,” Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, scouring private collections looking for vintage bicycles, toys, unusual memorabilia, musical equipment, folk art, and a whole host of things that might be valuable.

Rosenthal wrote in the email that Wolfe and Fritz do not pick at stores, malls, flea markets, museums, auctions or businesses. A news release sent by Rosenthal to Maine area chambers of commerce said the show is looking “for interesting characters with interesting and unique items.” People who want the show to consider filming someone’s collection are asked to email their name, phone number, address, a description of the collection and photos to: Americanpickers@cineflix.com. Rosenthal did not say when any Maine episodes might be aired.

The show’s producers put out a similar call for Maine collections last summer and did end up filming in Maine. At least two episodes featuring Maine collections aired on History in February.
