SACO — Bangor Municipal’s Staci Creech shot a 75 to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Maine Women’s Amateur golf tournament at Biddeford-Saco Country Club Monday.

Creech leads Biddeford-Saco’s Ruth Colucci, who sits alone in second after 18 holes in the 54-hole tournament.

Biddeford-Saco’s Emily Bouchard, a two-time champion of the event, is in a four-way tie for third with defending champion Leslie Guenther of Norway, as well as Samoset’s Bailey Plourde and Martindale’s Melissa Johnson. The quartet of players each shot a 78 and sit three shots off the lead.

Jordan LaPlume of Dunegrass is seven shots off the lead after shooting a first-round 82. The Thornton Academy student is second among junior players and tied for 11th overall.
