BIDDEFORD — Albert J. Lamb, 83, of Biddeford, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at Evergreen Manor in Saco.

He was born Sept. 19, 1931 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, a son of Adelard and Jessie (Nadeau) Lamb. He came here as a child and was educated in local schools.

On July 2, 1951, he married the love of his life, Cecile Plante, at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

Albert was self-employed as a building contractor for nearly 60 years. He also served as the District 3 (Hills Beach) Fire Chief for 22 years, retiring in 2005.

He had been an usher at St. Andre’s Church and was head collector at the 9:30 mass for many years. He enjoyed going out to his favorite restaurants on Saturdays with his family, an activity which he rarely altered.

Albert is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Cecile Lamb, on Oct. 22, 2012. He had been Cecile’s primary caregiver during her final illness. He was also preceded in death by: his daughter, Pvt. Carol Lamb, who died Oct. 14, 1978 while serving in the U.S. Army; a sister, Aurora St. Pierre; and a brother, Gerard Lamb.

He is survived by: three sons, Albert R. Lamb, John Lamb and his wife Linda, and Carl Lamb, all of Biddeford; two daughters, Janice Lowell of Saco, and Betty Ann Donovan and her husband Wayne of Hollis Center; two sisters, Pauline Mouzas and her husband James of Biddeford, and Aline Deschaine and her husband Joseph of New Britain, Connecticut; a brother, Robert Lamb and his wife Helen of Ossippee, New Hampshire; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
