YARMOUTH – “Blend of old and new” is an often-heard phrase in real estate, but rarely if ever has that quality been achieved as stunningly as in this totally restored and thorough updated antique Colonial on 14-plus green acres in the western, farmland section of this coastal town.

The Cushing Prince House dates from 1785, is on the National Register of Historic Places, and has benefitted from the help of the Yarmouth Historical Society, which contributed not just guidance but also materials, e.g. almost all the period windows, and brick flooring in the basement. “Goose Pond Farm” (and there is a little farm pond out back) the property is called, and it is indeed a farm to this day – a horse-lover’s dream that has five rotational pastures.

The 32-foot-by-48-foot, timber-framed new barn is historically authentic – built by hand, in fact (just as the home’s wide-pine floors were refinished by hand). There are four stalls, and a space for two more; a heated tack room with running water, and a run-in shed in the direct-access paddock. Electrobraid fencing is new, as is the foundation for a new equipment barn.
