SCARBOROUGH — A Portland man was found guilty Thursday of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in 2013.
Timothy M. Hunt, 29, was convicted on six counts of gross sexual assault and six counts of unlawful sexual touching, according to a press release from the Scarborough Police Department. The conviction in Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland July 30 followed a three-day jury trial, police said, and approximately one hour 40 minutes of deliberations.
The crimes occurred between January and July 2013 at the Downeaster Motel, 184 U.S. Route 1, while Hunt was the girl’s caretaker. The crime was initially reported by the girl’s mother.
Hunt is expected to be sentenced in September, police said.
