Sixth in a series

Yosemite National Park is synonymous with the work of photographer Ansel Adams and his black and white images of the Yosemite Valley. But this well-visited park offers much more than postcard-perfect pictures to send home from vacation.

Adventurers who escape the crowds of the most-beaten paths of the valley, will discover miles of trails to the park’s granite peaks, the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias and some of the world’s highest waterfalls.

The park draws more than 3.5 million visitors a years. Yosemite is open year-round, but is most busy during the summer months especially on weekends, according to tripadvisor.com. To avoid the crowds, plan a trip in the fall, the website advises.

From its granite mountains to its ageless sequoias, Yosemite offers great experiences for adventures, casual travelers and families.
